The 13th annual Taste of India was a tremendous success!Dear Community members:
On behalf of Taste of India, I want to thank every member of the community in making this event a grand success. Your presence at Taste of India is sincerely appreciated.Credit for success of this event belongs to thousands of attendees like you, hundreds of volunteers, committee members and chairs of each committee. Without the selfless commitment of committee members, and specially the EIGHTEEN Chairs of these Committees, it would have been an impossible to put this event together.
As one of the single day largest Asian Indian Festivals in Virginia we hosted more than 9,000 people this year who tasted authentic Indian cuisine prepared for us by several local restaurants, cheered on their favorite college team in the dance contests, enjoyed the traditional music and dance, and admired the traditional costumes. We had great participation in the yoga workshops and games. And, let’s not forget the great shopping for Indian clothes, jewelry and handcrafts. Finally, those who were present at Taste of India from 12 noon to 1 PM also had an opportunity to listen to none other than Dr. Deepak Chopra, one of the best known figures in alternative medicine.
We cannot host Taste of India without generous sponsors. Special thanks to our platinum and gold sponsors: TowneBank, J.F. Schoch Building Corporation & OMNI Designs, Virginia Media, Anthem IT, Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, and Old Dominion University. We are also thankful to all our silver sponsors, supporters, and advertisers. Please thank these sponsors when you get a chance and support their businesses
Last and most important. Taste of India gives back to our community. In addition to providing more than $40,000 in scholarships to local graduating seniors over the past 12 years, the program organized by the Taste of India provide generous donations to the arts, to health care, to relief organizations and to other Hampton Roads entities that work to make Hampton Roads a better place to live.
It’s no wonder why Taste of India is one of the most popular cultural, single-day events organized by any ethnic group in Hampton Roads! Thanks for joining us, we are looking forward to seeing you again next year.
